Larry D. Wagenknecht is currently completing his 35th year with the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA) in Lansing, MI. Wagenknecht was appointed MPA Executive Director in 1986 prior to being named CEO. Wagenknecht received his BS degree in pharmacy from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in 1979 and is a licensed pharmacist and pharmacy preceptor in the state of Michigan. Wagenknecht serves as Adjunct Clinical Faculty for the colleges of pharmacy at the University of Michigan and Ferris State University. 

In addition to serving on the PTCB Board of Governors, Wagenknecht is Chairman of the Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services Board and Chair of the Michigan Healthcare Stakeholders Opioid Stewardship Consortium. From 2000-2001, he served as the President of the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA), and as Secretary and Governor of the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy Board of Governors. 

Wagenknecht has served on numerous other committees and task forces with the state of Michigan including the Prescription Drug and Opioid Abuse Task Force and Commission, Michigan Patient Safety Commission, and the Michigan Health Information Technology Commission. He is currently a member of the Michigan Society of Association Executives, Michigan Pharmacists Association, American Pharmacists Association, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations. 

Wagenknecht has served in many key leadership positions with University Lutheran Church in E. Lansing, MI and with Troop 97 of the Boy Scouts of America in Haslett, MI.
